Looking at Claymore's thread on the powered go karts, I thought a thread for all of us to show what we are getting up to this year would be pretty cool. I like to make stuff, mostly to give away as you guys know. This year Nicola an I have given each other the kitchen. However, I have a plan to make her a hat..... more details closer to Christmas. In the mean time, Hannah, our daughter has started to make her Christmas goodies. I was really impressed with this item. Rather than a picture in a frame, she has printed off photos of her boyfriends mums dog and applied them to a paper mache dog. Please do add comments and contributions.

I have decided to put my home grown chillies to use - I have chilli oil fermenting in the cellar and I am deciding between some chilli jams and sauces too
I think I will do some cinder toffee to go with it and dip some in chocolate

Back in early september I bought 5 of these that I'm bringing on as Christmas presents for people. They are Norfolk black Turkey stags and currently between 12 and 15 pounds so they are going to be a fair size by Christmas.

I love the chillies and the Turkeys do take the prize for creativity and win at this point.
I was sitting at 00.30 this morning after rummaging in the firewood pile..... dismantling an item that will donate parts to my planned Christmas prezzie for Nicola.
Pictures later.

I made some cakestands because my special lady friend wanted one for home, then decided she would sell them at the vintage markets she runs so I ended up making loads. I made these cufflinks just because I fancied a pair myself and was out of mojo for my proper garage projects, this was enjoyable enough to get me back on track. Our pals and family will probably be getting some of each for Christmas.

We did a couple of cake stands for Hannah and some friends with old records bought from bootfairs. Cost very little. ;D

I used these. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180674269384I had another load from Amazon with slightly larger heads (if you know what I mean) that were poorer quality and struggled with some glue.

Thanks for the replies regarding the cuff links. I may just make myself some for work (when I have a job again) In the mean time..... I am sure most of you will guess the direction in which I will be headed for my Christmas prezzie making this year. I have started to collect bits that will form part of the Christmas prezzie I am planning on making for Nicola as I know what she likes and wants. At midnight last night I had dug this out of the fire wood bin, took what I wanted and then returned the rest to the bin. First bit of stashed treasure. Can you tell...... ?

After felling a 20yr old oak tree at my parents-in-law house, I decided try my hand at some walking staffs. I've always fancied making myself a proper woodsmans stick, and after finding 3 decent branches I thought I'd make one for each of my best mates too as Christmas pressies. here they after drying and stripping, now I just need to work out how to carve or decorate them to individualise them for my mates. Any suggestions? Grizz, I'm going for a cuckoo clock??

I'm making a table lamp for the misses. It's my first attempt at making a lamp, so I hope it comes out well. A friend of mine is an electrician so I'm going to geet him to check over what I've done before I electrocute myself or burn the house down! Anyway, the plan is to make a large lamp with two hanging bulbs. The bulbs are going to be housed in Mason jars, like these.... [img src="http://www.angloanddutch.co.uk/ekmps/shops/angloanddutch/images/ball-mason-jars-in-stock-208-p[ekm]300x300[ekm].jpg"] ....the reason for the jars is they have "Ball perfect Mason" written on them, my surname is Ball and my girl friends surname is Mason ;D After seeing things like this on the internet..... ......I thought it would be better to make it more personal by making it myself. I've bought some jars and also some old style cable and light fittings from www.historiclighting.co.uk to give it a kind of vintage/steampunk feel. The cable I've got.... ...and the bulb holders...

I thought it has all the makings of a nice thread. Here is the next clue..... I now have to measure her head and order in a decent quality tophat. Not sure if Brown or green are the answer... but leaning toward brown at the moment.

Thanks for this thread Grizz Nothing to add yet, but some great ideas and just the needed kick (and time!) to do stuff myself! It is a pleasure. Like I always say, we learn from each other on here. I am now looking for more bits for my attempt (ohhh and Nicola saw the thread and now knows what she will be getting ) As with the other wanted ad..... you never know. So worth asking..... Looking at trying to make Nicola a SteamPunk inspired Christmas prezzie..... Looking for bits of old clocks etc, gears, cogs , springs and even an old wristwatch face possibly. BROKEN STUFF IDEALLY Happy to collect within reasonable distance. What have you got? PM please.

Not really for xmas but I made these toy wooden guns the other day. Not totally my idea, the army had an exhibition at Beaulieu in half term and the kids could get dressed up in army clothes and do some exercises, They had wooden guns carved from ply and painted dark colours. Simple! All those awkward leftover pieces of ply Id kept that might come in useful, take a cheap plastic gun from sons collection, the type you get from the pound shop and always break! trace round the outside with a marker, jigsaw round it, rub down smooth edges, paint with whatevers lying around, hey presto more guns for the garden more noise for the neighbours ratatatatatatatatatatat...... Unfortunately Jack grabbed them before I could detail them properly and drew all over them, still he was happy!

Right, got started today..... Bid on a few items on Ebay, no guarantee of course, but started. Then went to Rochester High street, antiques and charity shops. The result of 3 hours worth of trawling was a callback for next Thursday for a mantle clock that came out of a house clearance the weekend. If he cannot get it working, it will be mine for around £5.00 I am also looking for older cameras, especially the ol Russian style ones with a lot of mechanical parts. I did get to find one clock, actually very pretty for £5.00 at the Red Cross charity shop.....the manager was hard as nails and would not budge on the price ;D ;D As bought. Also no winding key with it.

I'll keep my eye out for any clocks in skips.
