Sorry to hear about this. I won't go on a rant about what should happen to those who did it... I think we all feel the same.
The fire damage doesn't look too bad from the pics? Hopefully it's salvageable and will live again!

What about a roof chop? If you find another one with a good roof you can graft that on, only 4" further down Glad your staying positive, i'm sure the parts will be offered to get her back on the road again

don't mean to be negative but the only down side to a convertible or a speedster is its even easier for them to break in next time. Leave the hood down one night and sit there and wait for them with a few friends Shouldnt bother you again after that

Ha ha, those pics are hilarious, makes me proud to think of those little scally wags destroying a nice bit of motoring heritage.
Sticky fingered little bastards.
I'm sorry, I class myself a pretty level headed but after seeing those pictures I think whoever did this needs their hands chopped off. Bring them to me and ILL bloody do it.

Loving the roof chop or speedster penski suggestion. great to see that although a sad angrifying thread, we see this old skool cruiser bruiser put back on the road with a new look. I'll be very interested to see this happen, and if you were not so far away i'd offer spare hands. good luck.

roof chop is the answer.
Sort some deadlocks as the locks on these as stock are a joke. Most of the time I owned mine it wouldn't actually lock anyway.
I thought hydrofluric acid issues were only from newer cars with plastic control boxes etc rather than old cars and rubber. I remember seeing a safety vid on this years ago where a guy had been trying to repair a then-new Acclaim after an underbonnet fire and the burns he got from the acid from a broken down / melted ECU meant he lost his hand.

kind of the same reason I'm doing mine, cant find out who did it just hope they see it buzzing about and realize they wont get me down, or some one might comment out of amazement. any how got it running today the engine seems ok I can only guess that the heat has distorted the dipstick? going to start stripping all of the burnt interior out tomorrow. will be nice to get it back on the road heres a under bonnet shot on in the plans are some anti burst latches from a mk4 escort or similar

Oh those pictures. Anythings do-able but I salute you sir!
Maybe strip it down to its last nut and bolt, blast and rebuild the shell from scratch?

Was the car immaculate before being torched? No rust or filler or anything?
