Really struggling to decide on how much I ought to ask for a vauxhall centaur - threres only supposed to be 31 left from original 1979 production run of 118 so she's rare. No T & T but the weldings all been done - properly, shes been rustproofed, needs a couple of easily obtained parts (front shocks, headlamps), a respray along with general recomission (new tyres, few bushes) but a hard to find part - a new hood. Have the old hood which is tatty - doubtful if it could be patched, certainly not to show condition but definitely good enough to draw up a pattern. The tonneau is in good condition. Interior trim bit tatty but manta interior would drop straight in. Also have a brand new genuine chrome bumper for Mk I cav to go with car which has never been fitted - great autojumble find! She shares lots of parts with Mk I cav and opel manta so spares arent a problem - but I just don't have time to finish her off to the standard she deserves and now need to find space! It's utterly worthless. Give it to me.
Seriously - if the body is good and it needs trimming... it's too unusual to give a fixed price on but as a guideline, I'd consider taking it on for about £500 if the body were genuinely sorted - i.e., all I need to do is trim it and mess with some basic mechanics. Other people would probably prefer the welding. Someone who REALLY wants a Centaur might pay more.
Some pics would really help. Or even a thread in the main bit if you've got some pics of the restoration. Valuable or not, it's an unusual car and I for one would really like to see more of it.
