Combine and Apparently the rover turbo lump bolts straight up to the landcrab gearbox (which is built like a truck gearbox! How much of a sleeper would that be??!

I have heard of MG Maestro engines being put into them so follows on that it should be a relatively straighforward swap. Now that should be frapping cool

Turbo Landcrab! Insane! They've got Hydrospastic suspension too haven't they? Slammed and turbo'd... in that beige... then go out and kill Saxos. Excellent!

Why go to all that bother, just get a factory V8 and breath on it a bit.............bingo, nutter territory :-) Because the factory v8 one requires a shedload of work to the cheaper O series engined vans, i.e. a new bulkhead... so I'm informed. and it's hardly "bother".. Plus the T16 engines can be made to create some serious power... Also, T16s are cheaper to tune than V8's, and they're REALLY hard to break

They only did the factory V8s in the 300 (later 400) series. To get a V8 in a 200 you need to cut the bulkhead. Edit - like so:

Why go to all that bother, just get a factory V8 and breath on it a bit.............bingo, nutter territory :-) There's a guy down in Wallingford who buys ex-Police gear and refurbishes it....last time I was down there he had a couple of V8 Sherpas, the ones he had were on air suspension, and looked EVIL with the back end in the weeds..... AHHHH so is that your website then odin? Nice one :-) No no, I was just using it as an example. Mine will eventually be 'whooom-tissss!'-ing past Saxos etc. It does need the LSD first though, because it spins through first and second as it is.

We once had a Sherpa on our ar$e well past 100mph, can only assume it was a V8........ the guy driving it was laughing like a mad man, but then so was I Back on topic- 200bhp in a landcrab would be brilliant Surely someone, somewhere must have done it?

Well i got the idea from talking to the guy who does my balancing & rolling road. (remeber the 'Holy Tat' thread, thats his yard!) He was telling me how utterly wibblepoo metro turbos were and suggested i should be doing this! I'm pretty sure he attualy has several land crabs 'in stock' aswell

I've given this some thought as well before. Its on my list of "must do" cars which I will probably never do. I reckon that the Maxi would be an easier deal to do though. The landcrab uses the B series engine (and some oddball 6 cyl in the 2200 version) and the transmissions are all 4 speeds. However the Maxi has the 5 speed box and E and O series engines as stock which are closer to the T series - in fact the O series is the same bottom end I believe.
Also the Allegro is a viable swap, as this uses the same engines as the Maxi.
You may be able to use a Maxi subframe in a landcrab as a lot of the floor area is the same I think?
Some more investigation would be required. I'm not sure that the B series is a bolt compatible jobbie with the T series. Some of the B series engines don't interchange with other B series engines for example...

Does that plan have anything to do with the RR meet carpark chat? I rekon it NEEDS to be done To an extent. Omnipotent ECUs tend to scare me a bit, so I might try and find a Montego Turbo to pillage instead. Yes, less power, but no 'fnahh...I need a software upgrade' and more 'WD40 will fix it'.
