Hey folks, looking for some advice.
I recently got me a 1990 (3rd gen) Toyota Townace and it needs a good whack with the stick.
I had a look under the front and there are no springs just shocks. I did some googling and it talks of a torsion bar (which makes me think of beetles) but this is double wishbone on the front.
Also The springs will want changing on the back, I'd prefer not to chop them as I don't want to be a total tight ass!
Anyone have any experience lowering any of the toyota 'ace' family? All advice welcome!

its similar to a mazda b2000 mate, you have to release the tension on the torsions, and re index them to get the drop. i think they slot into the lower wishbones on these. its kinda like doing a type 3, but the torsion bars run lengthways along the chassis rather than side to side.

The front adjusts down, the rear needs alternative springs. Was hoping to not just cut em.

Just to point out to anyone else, the torsion bars for the front (as dez said) run along the chassis rails and the adjustment is about halfway down the van. The drivers said is in-between the battery and fuel tank, passenger side next to exhaust. Requires a 22mm socket. Having a deep socket and an impact gun to remove the locking nut will save you a lot of swearing!

Apologies for digging up an ancient thread but I've got a Townace and I want to lower it. Front is easy, it'll adjust down on the torsion bars.
Rear is shocks and springs. I really don't want to cut the springs. Anyone know if there are any other cars that have the same size springs? I'm trying to find ones of a similar size from a more readily available car so I can find some lowering springs.
Finding parts for this Townace has been a nightmare.
