Right this was a complete impluse buy, which I'm going to blame a couple of people for....... Firstly Ben711200 who I saw the previous weekend when I picked up a tyre from him. Ben commented on the fact the Chevette was my only car. I don't know why this effected me but it got me thinking "Am I an inferior car enthusiast, because I only own one car?" Secondly BIAS who's Shuttle rocked up to A52 the same weekend, which I'd seen before but hadn't truly appreciated until then. Then as if by fate (which I DO NOT believe in at all!) a customer at work phoned up for a water pump, for a Honda Shuttle. I happened to mention I quite liked them, to which he replied "Make me an offer it's for sale". I kinda dismissed the conversation until that evening when I got home. Then a combination of Ben's words and images of Ian's Shuttle filled my head. I checked my finances and offered the owner what I could afford, which he accepted. Boom I own a Honda Shuttle ;D It's a D14 engine with the twin carbs and the auto box, which seems to drive really well. It's done just over 72k. It's MOT'd and Taxed until September, and apart from a bit of lacquer peel and a wet drivers footwell it seems kosha. Plans are to use it, as a daily drive so I can take the Chevette off the road, so I can do all the welding in one go and fit the CVH and type9. Hopefully returning the Chevette to the road better than ever. Although I couldn't possibly leave the Shuttle at the standard ride height, especially after Dan (aka VIP) kindly informed me that eBay Civic coilovers can be made to fit very easily I might even run the wellers on the Shuttle for a bit too. Thanks for reading

I'm not usually one to moan about the weather, but our summer has so far turned out to be frankly dreadful! This has been compounded by the fact I now have two cars that leak. Now having the Shuttle home it's clear the wet foot well is more like a swimming pool, so I decided it was best to get stuck in. So out came the seats and carpet, which apart from two power drill holes left by the he previous owner is pretty much mint. Seats out.... Puddle.... Carpet out.... After a good hour of rolling around on my back inside the car and pouring water over various areas I thought might be letting water in, it looks like it's running in from the window which no longer seems to be bonded to the drivers side of the vehicle. Thankfully a friend of a friend works for Autoglass and has said he can remove and reseal the windscreen for a good price. Hopefully this will make the Honda watertight again!Â

Good Luck with your Honda Shuttle, a great choice!! - I am looking forward to reading about your progress and I have bookmarked this thread. I live in British Columbia, Canada and part-time in Northern Ireland. We have owned our '91 Honda Civic Wagon for more than 10 years. The odometer reads 390,000 km. We sourced a second engine from Japan about 5 years ago. I would love to have a low mileage car like yours. The Canadian spec. for our DX model is different in that mine came with a 1.5L engine with a very basic efi system. I also have the auto-box. Recently I bought a Blue Ox tow-bar and installed a Blue Ox base-plate for 4 wheel down towing behind my old motor home next winter. I have the factory workshop manual for the '91 if you need info. Ian.

Mine is a GL whatever that means lol. I read somewhere that the twin carb setup for only avaliable in Europe and Japan, probably because the US and Canadian models needed EFi to get better emissions? Sorry about that Though you justified yourself perfectly well by stating your girlfriend has a more sensible car and you walk to work so I won't accept too much liability Bookmarked! She knows that the last thing I need is another car lol, I really want to hold on to both. Make the Chevette mega and the Shuttle as a cool daily......... not that I really need or can afford a daily but it's only money ;D

Nice buy, a real quirky shape. Are these 4 x 100?
I was under the impression you still had the 535, or is that long gone?

Nice buy, a real quirky shape. Are these 4 x 100? I was under the impression you still had the 535, or is that long gone? Yeah it's 4x100, so plenty of wheel choice. Sadly the 535 had to go, the rocker arm imploded about two months before the misses and I bought our first house, plus the MOT and tax was due too. Money got tight and I broke it for spares. The only reason I could afford the Chevette was due to a PPI claim that I got, if I'd got it earlier I wouldn't had broke the 535. It's curse word how it happened but I'm happy with what I've got now.

When I picked the car up the previous owner warned me that the passenger side electric window regulator was sticky, on further inspection the cheap aftermarket conversion kit that had been fitted was struggling to push the window up. Plus whoever had fitted it had just thrown the wiring under the carpet. So I thought seeing as my arms still work, I'd junk the electric window stuff and convert it back to 'Hand-tronic windows' Before... After... In the bin... However I do need two window winders as they rear ones became the fronts. Also whilst digging though the history for the car I found the owners manual ooooooh very abstract..... ....inside was a small card from a previous owner from the 1949, obviously Honda does attract a certain kind of elderly owner.... League of Safe Drivers! Not sure they'd have me TBH. Pretty cool though, along with this was a ESSO petrol points vouchers that expired at some point in the mid 90's.

Looking on eBay as you do, I came across a set of 14" SSR Mk2-R wheels which need some love. One of the wheels has been kerbed badly and some of the bolts are missing. I've got some SSR split rim bolts somewhere in the garage and I'm not hugely fussed with condition as I plan to refurb them anyway. A bargain at £50 ;D A library photo of the wheels..... Proper JDM bummer wheels for a proper JDM bummer people carrier ideal!

Window out ;D The worst of the grot.... ...plus there is also a little hole at the bottom on the same side, which needs some attentiontoo. The rest of the aperture is pretty good, a reasonable amount of surface rust but nothing too deep. I've got some special primer that is meant to prevent rust and allow a good surface for the window glue to take to. So currently the car stands like this.... ...hopefully the weather will stay good for the next week so I can get it sorted!

Wheels have arrived ;D Pretty good condition in general for the money. The paint on the centres is dreadful though looks like it's been brushed on, even the bad kerb mark isnt really that bad.... Just had the tyres stripped off, next job is to take the faces out and paint them. But what colour?

I think yellow might be a bit too "in yo face", despite the red on two of the wheels they looks to have been white originally, so maybe white with black splitters or vice versa. Anyway even though I really should be cracking on with the holes around the screen, I was too excited and started splitting the wheels for the refurb. Nice bit of corrosion, thankfully the vast majority of the nuts didn't put up too much resistance..... The a few of the bolts were properly seized in but with a gentle smashing and copious amounts of WD40 they all came free.... All out.... I'm unsure what to do with the nuts and bolts as they are a slightly different design to the other ones I've got, so I may end up replacing them all for allen head bolts.... Once the bolts are out, turn the wheel face down on an old tyre and with a block of wood and a large hammer smash the living curse word out of the face until it falls out. One down, three to go!

I think you should rebuild them as reversed they should look ace on it As much as I'd love to reverse them this set like the previous set of 2pc SSR split trims, the face is too big to fit through the back of the wheel remember and change the water pump! Que? Sorry mate.
