Sort of tied in with my cheap cars thread,it was suggested that i look for cars that no one wants in my quest for cheap motoring. Got me thinking that when people think of big comfy luxobarge type cars that they always go for german cars. But what about the others? If we move next door so to speak, and look to the french. The Peugeot 605 and Citroen XM spring to mind straight away. Then i remembered the Renault Safrane. Does anyone have anysugestions for non German luxobarges?

Why not a big yank tank?
oldsmobile, buick, cadillac etc
failing that I've always had a slight crush on the Vel Satis

I love the LS400's (I love VIP's one - soooo nice!)
However, if I was getting a non-German barge it would almost certainly be a Honda Legend. I just think there is something very understated about them and they always seem to get overlooked because most people head straight to the Lexus.
I love them both, but the Honda just has the edge for me.

Nissan QX / Infiniti stuff. Something really rare like a Leopard or a President if you can!
Whats a Vel Satis worth these days? Or if you like odd Frenchies an Avantime.

Alfa 164's are pretty cheap, and a decent drive apparently. But it's a heavy car to be pushing. Alternatively the Lancia Thema, doubt the 8.32 version is that cheap tho, if you could find one.

Nissan QX, Honda Legend, Jaguar XJ6, Citroen XM, Peugeot 605, Renault Safrane, Ford Scorpio/Granada, Vauxhall Senator/Omega, Rover 800, Mazda Xedos, Toyota Camry, Alfa Romeo 164, Saab 9000, Volvo 850......that should be a pretty exhaustive list. No time to get pics up but something left field like an Alfa 164 or even the newer 166 would be cool

I think I've posted this prancing moose before. Certainly a contender even though they seem to be labelled as a family car rather than a nice executive grade luxobarge.

Economy is still v-important to me. Insurance = Cheap! Economical = yes (Brian Damaged can vouch for that) Cheap to buy = yes also Room = BUCKETS mine:
