you shorten the rods between the radius arms and the hydro units (on the back) and you have to machine the hydro unit directly (on the front), then over-pressurise the suspension to 'compensate' giving a lower and stiffer ride. But a heavily lowered metro is just gonna look like the hydro is popped anyway. What about raising one up though? Like a Golf Country kinda thing? ;D

cgi.ebay.co.uk/1984-AUSTIN-METRO-VANDEN-PLAS-BLUE-NOT-TO-BE-MISSED_W0QQitemZ300021032878god theres another one! From what i understand you can lower them by reducing the pressure but this also makes the ride softer so not a good thing, if you keep the same pressure and m/c the end of the units down then you get same stiffness but less height and if you want it stiffer and lower you have to pump it up and remove more from the units! Theres also a trick with the rear droop stops which lets you pump it up hard but the stops stop the increse in ride height. Athough ive herd this can lead to the subframe bending some what and doesnt sound like the best of ideas to me! I have herd conflicting things where people say reducing pressue makes it stiffer! how? They were also connected it up in differant ways depending on what year they were built. early ones have each corner as a stand alone unit but later ones had the left front connected the the left back ect. which is relly how the system was designed! or so ive read... i think...maybe! Only thing is if i do buy one i wont have anywhere to put it untill i can find a place to store/work on the fiesta! If it wasnt for that id be there tomorrow! Jon give him a nudge i need more info!

Aaaah, Metros, that takes me back a day or two! The early ( not Rover ) Metros had the suspension independant on the front and connected side to side at the rear. The Rover ones were front to rear and always seem to sit nose down. I think the whole family has had at least two each, They were so cheap that was all I had until I got the Kadett. I had some real choice ones including a beige Minimetro that turned out to be one of the first off the line being registered mid / late 1980 and black one with MG interior, spoiler and silver Weller 8 spokes I'll see about some pics and see if the guy has still got the clean, met green Mk1 in his unit

Not a metro but you get the general idea I am in total agreement with the big fella. I HATE METRO'S!!!!Absolutely ZERO redeeming features. The day I am forced to own one will be the day I stand on a wonky chair with a big noose round my neck and a shotgun in my mouth. Possibly with the added bonus of falling into a pit of rabid sea-bass or perhaps fetid sewage mixed with rape seed. And all whilst wearing lead-lined wellies. worst car ev Ar.

^ lost his mind in the storms of 1995 WhatevAr. Were there storms in 1995? Shame they didn't suck all the crappy baked-bean tin rattle-box death-traps Metro's away with them. '95 was when I passed my test. I coulda had my pick of Metro's for a meagre budget. But I probably would have been put off driving for life. Glad I chose a Skoda instead.

I've had a couple I liked em......... Both vans mind
Sprightly performance (1275 ones anyway)
When the Hydrogas system is topped up handle like they are on rails......
build quality a tad iffy but in a van so much noise you don't notice
Still wouldn't mind a nice std MG version (non obrut) red seat belts I think being the main reason........
fugly things I know but even fugly can be attractive!!!

build quality a tad iffy ! Is that with or without the bungee cord to keep it in gear? Did you train your brain to retain information or is it a gift? With the bungy of course ;D
