New Wheels!! 13x7 capri 2.8 pepperpotts. had the centres machined out to fit the Peugeot hubs I didn't want to go to low a profile or they would look lost in the arches or go for too much stretch so made a guess at 185/60 tyres, the rears are about perfect I think, the fronts could perhaps need a 175 or just some more camber. They don't rub or anything under normal driving, haven't tried it with the car fully loaded yet. I like them 'cos they look like 1.6 gti wheels at first glance but aren't. and they are wide!! I need to sort out 3 proper centre caps (if anyone has any) and trim down the studs as they stick out too far. I had to do a stud conversion as ford use enormous nuts for their alloys which are only available in 12x1.5mm thread. Then I will referb the alloys. I was thinking a mid grey to match the plastics on the car. I haven't done a lot else to the car recently apart from change the clutch and exhaust. and go on holiday in it. also bought this last night in the dark! £350 of purple e36 coupe

Those wheels look brilliant. Love the simplicity of this car, I've spent years chopping my GTi up to make it less fussy, and I should have just started with one of these Like the sound of your engine plans as well.

The other day I was looking to trade for one 205 1.6 GTi but with a 1.9 engine...

The wheels look great! I'm putting the same wheels on my 106, having to do the stud conversion too, nice to know it'll be worth it!

Long overdue update.
Had to swap the tyres for 165s as the 185s rubbed on the rear arches. oddly no pictures though (I'll sort some at the weekend)
I also got round to fitting the GTi rear anti roll bar. This made the turn in loads sharper (It originally had no rear arb) unfortunately the rear beam seems to have settled a little lower than I would like, so either needs bringing back up a bit or the front lowering a bit more. I also think the front springs are too hard as they are for a GTi which I assume has a much heavier engine, and it feels a lot less prone to oversteer (in that it doesn't) than any 205 I've ever driven. I also got rid of the stud conversion kit. they proved a bit of a nightmare tbh as no mater what I did they wouldn't stay tight. I managed to find a company that sells special conical spacers/washers for fitting Ford wheels to other makes.Ford conversion washers
One of the annoyances of the junior is the lack of instrumentation, so when the Smith's Datamaster was mentioned in a "technical bit" thread I knew I had to have one.
I decided that I would bolt it to the coin tray blanking plate to avoid damaging any difficult to replace dash parts I I wanted to remove it later.
Attached to coin tray cover.
trial fitted to binnacle.
In place.
What to do with these?
The original AM radio doesn't work anymore so I re-purposed the plug to avoid chopping up the loom.
Wired up and working!
I also took apart the radio to create this, I'm planning a stealthy more modern audio install behind this.

Any updates on this. How you getting on with the Datamaster The clock in the Datamaster has been the best addition I have made to the car! Well at least the most useful. Unfortunately two sets of two "cells" in the rev counter seem to have blown, one pair at 2000 and another at 4000 revs. Although oddly today two of them started working again, so hopefully the other two might as well. If not I will take it apart and have a look. Even if it is knackered I will be able to rig something up with an arduino and LEDs in the Datamaster case. Here is a pic I took last month with the new tires. I haven't done a lot else with it except drive it. I do however need to sort out some mounting paint issues and get a new windscreen from somewhere.

I like the capri wheels on this..very diffrent look to it. The door handles on your 205 are the same as roof grab handles on peugeots so very easy to come by. I may even have a couple laid in a box somwhere. I know i do have 2 of the bigger style handles i removed from my 309.. I also have a nice set of front and rear XS GTI Seats If you want to replace your denim blues at any time.keep up the good work

The sub frame from a GTI is quite rare these days so you might struggle to get a good price. Have you thought about a maxi kit or a dimma kit? To get a bit of power you could get the 1.4 tu multipoint engine, that can run on bike throttle bodies without changing an aftermarket ECU. Also, if you think of doing a brake conversion, you can get lots of different brakes quite cheap.

I did work out about the door handles as well and have a couple of good condition sets in different colours now. They are also used as the manoeuvring handles on Eriba caravans. Also, if you think of doing a brake conversion, you can get lots of different brakes quite cheap. I already have the subframe, I'm just to lazy to fit it. Also I have heard that it might actually reduce the front track width, which would make my positive camber issues worse, so a little more research and tape measure work is needed. I do like the dimma 205s but I think it might be a bit much on a 954cc car. As for the brakes I'm going to go for 1.6 gti front callipers and disks, as they are basically the same but vented, and it needs new callipers anyway as they both stick a bit (or a lot sometimes, it's surprising how hot an alloy wheel can get!) Have a Dimma kitted Cti I like very much

You should be able to fit 306td disks and calipers on yours easy enough, I had them on my Rallye & they were awesome. Car looks sweet on those rims! If you ever go for engine, the 106 gti lump is good for sub 15sec 1/4 mile.

I'm not sure if the larger ones will fit in the 13" wheels.
