I think you meant 40 seconds onwards. Looks like quite a lot of deformation to me and thats being hit with something that extends below sill level whereas the Lexus hit the Pontiac above the sill so that the short B pillar took the full brunt. Anyway, I didn't mean to start a discussion about relative safety of old/new. As I said, would be interesting to see the flip side. Damage to that Lexus could well be hidden by the bumper which has popped back into rough shape.

WTF mad old women driving big cars with autos One of my absolute pet hates. People (both sexes) who drive HUGE cars but only have 1 or 2 inches view over the wheel, or sometimes even through the wheel hoop too!!! Especially in big 4X4's. Soooo dangerous to the public..... Knowing the US legal system she will probably be able to sue the owners of those gorgeous cars , because if they weren't there she wouldn't have hurt her wrist, loss of earnings, embarrassment of photos on internet, mental anguish, cant drive in case she sees another one and freaks out etc On a lighter note crazy old people driving big cars with auto boxes do make the funniest parking videos

I've seen the aftermath of an older woman getting the steering brakes and accelerator messed up in Tesco car park, luckily she wiped out just the trolley park and a few trolleys inside it.. Yes I agree, more modern cars are built safer, but I'd still prefer an older one and take the risk Still, very sad to see those pics.. never nice seeing old bashed metal

I have to say I don't go out thinking about crashing. You'd never cross the road. Or ride on a bus, or fly.

don't get me wrong, if someone said, you can have the lexus or pontiac, id take the pontiac. Just shows though, you automatically think beacuse the lemans is made from thick steel it would be better off in an accident than a flimsy modern, but it's just not the way it is.
Shame to see such a nice car destroyed. Old people can be scarry behind the wheel (not all, just some).

Some dubious prejudices about older drivers being aired here based on a few photos and zip evidence. she drove over a fairly substantial piece of street furniture and into two parked cars. in what looks to be a retail/leisure park kind of setting, so were not exactly talking high speeds. exactly how much more evidence do you need? if you think she was fit to drive, youve got to be stark raving bonkers. people who put their own convenience over the safety of others and their property really curse word me off. i see these people all the time, too scared to admit they're beyond doing things coherently for themselves anymore, and admitting they need to rely on others, so instead of asking for help they carry on until something like this happens. ive seen BIG accidents and innocent people killed by self interested morons of this type. personally, id screw her for every penny she had, just to make sure she never drove again. mind you, after the say, $200k or so of damage going on there, id be surprised if anyone will let her near a car again!

Nick45 was talking about prejudices, whereas your're talking about this single driver in particular. Different things. I agree with him, there are prejudices and this thread has turned to a lot of cr@p! As a biker for some years I've had several accidents at the hands of dopey car drivers and they were all male.
But who cares. It's sad for the Lemon owner but looks like no-one was hurt. Let's move back to cars.

Ok this is pretty bad, hate to see yank tin in that state, however, what if she has just had a medical emergency, maybe a stroke? Complete loss of motor function resulting in a mess. All I can say is, I have no idea what happened so will not judge. Not too sure the pontiac can be saved, the wheels are not pointing in the same direction J

Having said that, I imagine there is a politician somewhere thinking that this would justify some expensive new automated safety features being made compulsory and that all old cars should be scrapped.

Before we all slate the driver
Isn't that brand of car known for various re-calls some of which being sticking thorttles?
There are a lot of people on here, all fearing of the modern, with the "more to go wrong" attitude. Well maybe that's exactly what happened?
We don't know the full story, infact we know non of the story, so until then surely it's pretty much all about the sad state of the damaged cars? Which is trully gutting! I think i would cry if that was either of mine!

Before we all slate the driver Isn't that brand of car known for various re-calls some of which being sticking thorttles? All of the Toyota sticking throttle accidents, bar 1, have now been proved as driver error! Toyota lost millions due to people not being able to drive and trying to blame the car. I agree with Dez. I once followed an older gentleman driving down a twisty but busy road and could tell he was almost blind! He was trying to drive between the White lines to stay in lane but couldn't see the White lines until he was about to drive over it! He was sawing at the wheel, swerving left and right doing a 20mph zigzag up the road and occasionally mounting the curb! Bare in mind thus was on a 60mph road with lots of blind corners that went through a few villiges. If a kid had run out in front of him.....no chance! And as an owner of a pillarless coupe, all I'll say is *gulp*
